1. How do I order? TOP
Go to the Designs gallery/ catalogue and choose your favourite design. Remember that each design can be customized. Therefore colours, fonts, etc can all be changed. If nothing seems quite right select the design that is closest to what you are looking for.
Select what you would like to order under the "Product Choices and Prices" scroll down. Fill out all the required information. Order. Double check your information to make sure that you have entered everything correctly. The website will then bring you to the payment page. Once you've completed payment you will need to upload your photos through the "Photo Uploader" page which is one of the main central icons on the homepage.
That's it, fast and easy! You will receive your first proof within 24 hours. 2. How long does it take until I get my card image? TOP
It takes a maximum of 24 hours from the time you submit your order and payment until the time you receive your first proof. Each time you request changes on the proof it may take an additional day. As soon as you are happy with the image and approve the final proof we will e-mail you the flattened jpg image or print and ship your order (depending on what you choose). Often the whole process takes 2 days (not including printing and shipping).
If you are pressed for time just let us know. We are often able to complete the process within 24 hours if there are not a lot of changes/ adjustments that need to be made.
For printed cards, orders are shipped within 48 hours of final proof approval. Shipping time is 2-5 business days depending on where in Canada you are located. Please note that folded cards are shipped within 4 days of final proof approval since they are printed at a different lab. 3. How do I send you my photo(s)? TOP
After you complete the order form for the design of your choice you will need to upload your photos. All photo uploads are done through our "Photo Uploader" page which is through the "YouSendIt" service. Always send quality photos of high resolution for the best print quality. It is best if the image(s) are sent in their full original size. If you are scanning a photo and then e-mailing we suggest you always scan it at a minimum 300 dpi at 150% in size. Be sure to only send photos that are jpg formatted. Other formats will result in a loss of quality. Blurry or grainy photographs cannot be repaired and will therefore not be suitable. We will not be held responsible for products with low resolution photographs. If we notice your photos are not of high enough resolution we will contact you to resend different photos before the design process begins.

Yes! For any of the designs you can change colours, fonts and wording to create the card that you are looking for. Also, if you like the look of a birth announcement design and want to use it for a birthday invitation, we can do that too. Any card can be changed and customized just for you. If you have a new idea for a card just let us know and we will see what we can come up with. No matter what design you choose, you are never locked into it. If we feel the photos that you send us may work better with another design we may send you an additional proof to have a look at. 5. Will you be editing and cropping my photos? TOP
Yes, if necessary. This is done to create the best looking card possible. Please keep in mind that a horizontal space is best for a horizontal photograph, etc. If you would like us to convert a photograph to black and white or sepia this can also be done; you can make this selection in the ordering process.
We are unable to edit photos extensively. Therefore we will not remove items/ people from a photograph or do repair work on a photo. 6. Is the proof that I see on my screen the exact image that will print out? TOP
Very close. It is good to always keep in mind that every computer monitor has a different colour calibration and your order may or may not be the exact colour variations that you see on your monitor. Photo developing centres sometimes print with different colour calibrations as well. It is always best to print your finished photo card using a one hour service rather than instant printing. I have found that instant printing never compares in quality and the colour calibration is often off. Some printing machines automatically crop 1-3 mm off an edge of a photo. If this happens and you loose a border, etc please contact us and we can make adjustments for you.
We discourage printing at Walmart, especially if your image has any red tones in it (pinks, reds, chocolate browns, etc), since the print quality tends to look a little dull and muddy. We love Walmart, just not for photofinishing. 7. Can I use professional photos? TOP
Professional photos can be used with a signed release from the photographer. If submitting professional photos, you take full responsibility for the copyrights of the photo. We will not be held responsible for any copyright infringement for your photographs. 8. Will my photo card be used on your website and/ or Blog? TOP
Many of the designs that you see on the website are from customers like yourself. We try to update our design gallery and Blog on a regular basis. Please keep in mind that your personal information is always changed and is kept confidential. If you do not wish for your image to be displayed on the website all you need to do is say so. 9. How do I pay? TOP
Payment is done through PayPal when ordering. You do not need a PayPal account to use this method of payment. If you do not have a credit card and wish to order sending the amount owing through an email transfer is also acceptable. All major banks, including RBC, BMO, CIBC, Prospera, Scotiabank and TD Canada Trust offer this service. Simply log on to your online banking, select an e-mail money transfer. Send to the e-mail address dolcettodesigns@gmail.com. Create a security question and be sure that I know what the answer is. Click "Send" and that's it. All payments must be made at the time of ordering. We will not begin designing your card until we receive notification from paypal or your chosen bank. Thank you for understanding. 10. Can you print the images and mail them to me? TOP
Yes, prices for printed cards are outlined in the order form for each product. We ship printed products to Canada and the USA. We encourage those from other parts of the world to take advantage of our jpeg/ you print option. 11. What do I do if I place my order and change my mind about what design I want or what size of photo card? TOP
Please contact us as soon as possible with the change request. We understand that everybody makes mistakes and we all change our minds about things. We will be able to accomodate all requests made within 24 hours of ordering. If you order and later discover another design that you prefer, we are more than happy to create a second design proof for you at no extra cost. However, each additional design proof will have to be re ordered and therefore have a new fee. 12. The date of my event changed, what should I do? TOP
We understand that these things happen. If you ordered a jpeg file we would be happy to send you a new card image with the changes at no extra cost at any time. If your change of information has occurred within 24 hours of placing your order for printed cards please contact us as soon as possible and we can make the change. If we have already printed and shipped the cards there is unfortunatley nothing that we can do. 13. I have an idea of what I want but don't see anything like it on the website, what do you suggest? TOP
Go to the design gallery category that you would like to order within. For example, if you would like a boy birth announcement, go to that category and order any announcement in the gallery (or the one that is most similar to what you're looking for). Fill in all your details as normal. In the special instructions section of the form write, in as much detail as possible, any changes and/ or what you are looking for. If you have a scanner, another idea is to sketch out the layout that you're thinking of and send us a copy along with your photo(s).
If you need to order a lot of printed cards and feel uncomfortable ordering this way simply contact us with all the information and e-mail photos to dolcettodesigns@gmail.com We should be able to put something together for you to take a look at before you place your actual order. 14. I want to order printed cards, could you send me the jpeg file as well? TOP
We are more than happy to send you a low resolution jpeg image of the card that you order. This would work great for e-mail, posting on a personal blog, facebook or any other social networking site. However, the file would not be of high enough quality to print. In order to have printing rights to the image you would need to purchase the actual jpeg image. 15. Do I get any extra envelopes with my order? TOP
With every 25 cards ordered you will receive one additional envelope in case a mistake is made. 16. I plan on ordering at least 100 printed cards. Would it be possible to see a proof before I pay? TOP
For large orders of printed cards we are more than willing to create your first proof before payment is completed. Just contact us with your information, design choice and send your photos directly to dolcettodesigns@gmail.com We will contact you within 24 hours with your first proof. 17. I would like to place an order but I don't have a credit card, can I still order? TOP
Yes! We understand that not all people have a credit card and would like to accomodate those in this situation. You can also pay through your online banking account. Here is how you order: You will need to select a design first. You can then send the design name, your information, your order details and photos directly to dolcettodesigns@gmail.com. We will then e-mail you to confirm that we received your order. You will then need to log onto your online banking account and e-mail the requested funds directly to dolcettodesigns@gmail.com. You will be asked to create a security question, make sure that you e-mail us the secret answer. As soon as we receive the funds we will contact you and begin working on your design. You may also pay by personal cheque. However, we will not be able to start your order until we receive your cheque. Please contact us for our mailing address if this is how you are choosing to complete payment. 18. I noticed that you sell fold over cards for weddings, could I buy fold over cards for my birth announcements? TOP
We are happy to sell fold over cards for large quantity orders of 100 or more cards. If you are planning on purchasing this many announcements, cards or invitations we could indeed sell you the fold over card. Just contact us and we will set something up.
If you would like to order the fold over card and are not planning on ordering a large quantity, you are always more than welcome to ask what our printer numbers are looking like for that specific week. At busy times we may be able to accomodate your request. 19. Could a photo card be used as a thank you card? TOP
Yes, many people use our photo cards as thank you cards. For example, a birth announcement makes a great thank you card keepsake as well. You can simply write on the back of the card. There will be the name of your image on the back as well as the watermark of "Fuji Crystal Archive Paper." However, these are small and light in print so you can easily write over top of them.
If you don't like the idea of writing on the back of a photo card you could order a seperate thank you card with space to leave a personal message. If you plan on ordering a lot of cards (100 or more) you always have the option of ordering fold over cards as well. 20. I am thinking of ordering the digital/ jpeg option, how does this work and how much should I expect to pay when printing? TOP
When you order the digital/ jpeg file you do all your own printing. You receive the high resolution file through e-mail. You can save the photo on a USB stick, memory card or CD and take it to any photo finishing place to be printed. We recommend that you print using a one hour service rather than instant or online printing, as the quality is always better. However, this is always your choice.
All jpeg/ digital images are $18.00
The final price you will end up paying all depends on how many prints you wish to make. Below is an example list of pricing to give you a better idea (all prices do not include tax and are in Canadian dollars):
Costco Canada: 4x6: .18 cents, 5x7: .49 cents
Walmart: 4x6: .19 cents, 5x7: .97 cents
Blacks Photofinishing: 4x6: .39 cents, 5x7: $1.99 (also offer cheaper print cards)
Future Shop: 4x6: .19 cents, 5x7: $1.19
(Prices subject to change at any time) Envelopes vary in prices, but expect to pay about 25 cents each. 21. I would like to order two cards, one in English and one in French, can I do this? TOP
Yes, for sure! We can easily create a card in two different languages. The cost for a digital image x2 in English and French is $25.00 CAD. Please contact us for how to go about ordering. If you are ordering printed cards the price remains the same for printed cards; just let us know how many of each language you would like. 22. I still have a question that wasn't answered... TOP
